How to Use Tables in the Text Module
You can also create tables inside of a text module. Tables should only ever be used for tabular data (like what you would put in an Excel spreadsheet), and not used to try to force a layout of different visual elements on the page.
Do NOT copy and paste a table from another program into a text module. It will not work correctly. If you have a table that is prohibitively time consuming to recreate, contact the web team for help.
If you have already completed Cascade training and you have a live asset with which to work, please follow along using your real asset. If you are using this guide for practice, please always use the _playground site. Yes, it starts with an underscore. It is a test site specifically meant for practicing.
Follow these steps to learn how to place a table inside of a Text Module in Cascade.Step 1
Edit Page or Draft
Find any page in Cascade you can edit. You can use the _playground site if you do not have a current page to edit. If you already had a draft saved, click the Edit button, then click the "resume editing" link to continue with your last changes. If starting a new edit, click the Edit button.
Step 2
Select Starting Location
In this example, we are adding a table after the image by pressing the return key to create a return break.
If you have any content in a text module already, click the text module's whitespace to unselect anything you may have selected. Press the return key to create a return break. If you are starting fresh in a new text module, just click into the text module. This lesson uses materials from the video training as examples.
The screenshot example here may be confusing. The object highlighted on the left is not the letter “l” or a vertical line, it is the cursor “blinking,” but frozen in place in the image.
Step 3
Adding Tables
Once you have your starting point for the top left of the table in the correct spot in the text module, click the Table dropdown menu. Hover over the Table option, then move your cursor to the right and click the number of rows and columns you want for the table. Here, the example uses a 5x5 table.
Step 4
DO NOT RESIZE TABLES

Step 6
Preview Draft
Manually fill in the rest of the data you need to input without using copy and paste. When you are done, click the Preview Draft button to view your changes.
